Apart from giving us suggested routes, Google Maps also allow us to see whether there is traffic congestions on the road if we are planning to take buses or cars to our destinations, thus alerting us to not take those means of transport before we get stuck in a traffic jam. Google Maps also allows us to see photos thus able to allow us to recognise the place(s) where we want to go before we "get directions", thus preventing us from taking wrong routes. Google Maps also shows the MRT line too, thus enabling us to know which MRT station is closest to a place.
I feel that Google Maps are not very reliable in terms of getting directions for sometimes it suggest us to walk to our destinations from another place when there is just a bus-stop right in front of our destination.
